Welcome to Worship at Zion!

Worship has many functions. It helps us grow in faith, pass along traditions, gather together as part of a community, and join in song and prayer. At the heart of our worship is God as revealed in Jesus Christ and the means by which the grace of God is freely given.

We gather to receive the gifts of God through Word and Sacrament. The word of God is often given through scriptures, sermons, songs, creeds, and prayers. We also receive the gifts of God through sacraments—visible words that speak of God’s loving presence in Baptism and Holy Communion. Through water, bread, and wine Christ speaks his love to us and is present with us. In worship we remember that this is about what God is doing. Our response to God’s grace is secondary to the presence of our gracious God who shows up in worship and whenever two or three are gathered in God’s name.

At Zion we value participation, recitation of the Lord’s Prayer and Creeds, musical and spoken expressions of God’s Word, communal confession and forgiveness, and the reading of scripture. Worship is never perfect, but together we maintain a certain order and routine that becomes familiar.

Join us as together we hear God’s Word and receive God’s gifts in worship!
