Pastor Christian Muellerleile

Christian grew up in Owatonna, MN and graduated from Owatonna Senior High School in 1995. Later he attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion. At Gustavus Christian sang with the Chapel Choir, St. Ansgar’s Chorus, The Gustavus Choir, as well as other student directed groups. Following college in 1999 Christian joined the Lutheran Volunteer Corps and served as a volunteer for Alliance of the Streets--a membership organization for homeless people in South Minneapolis.

It was during his year of service in the LVC that Christian heard and successfully ignored the call to ministry. Christian then went to work for Mississippi Market, a cooperatively owned and operated grocery store in St. Paul, Minnesota, and then went to work on a small scale vegetable farm near Oceola, Wisconsin. It was during this time that Christian married his college sweetheart, Kateri Kormann. After his second season on the farm Christian entered into the candidacy process for Ordained Ministry in the ELCA and began his studies at Luther Seminary in 2002.

While in Seminary Christian had many formative experiences including a Clinical Pastoral Education unit at the University Good Samaritan Center in Minneapolis and a year of internship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Berwick, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Luther Seminary in 2006, and accepted a call to Christ Lutheran Parish in Irownwood, Michigan. While in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Kateri gave birth to Augustin Kormann Muellerleile. In 2009 Christian accepted a call to Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, Minnesota.  In 2010 Antonia Jane Kormann Muellerleile was born into their family.

Breanne Royer
Shepherd of Youth Ministries

I grew up in a town not too far away called Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2005. After high school, I attended the University of North Dakota for two years. After two years of living in Grand Forks, ND I moved south to Fargo in hopes of warmer weather. Unfortunately, the southern city of Fargo was not much warmer than Grand Forks but I still enjoyed the community of Fargo-Moorhead.

Fall of 2008 I decided that I needed to study abroad and visit the land of my ancestors: Norge or Norway. There, I studied Society and Culture of the Norwegian Welfare State with classmates from all over the world; an experience I will always treasure. During this time I was able to visit family and friends who live in Norway as well as learn quite a bit from my peers and about myself. I will most likely mention my time in Norway in any conversation so I apologize in advance if you hear the same stories repeatedly. A side note: Despite my Norwegian roots, I will not eat lutefisk nor was I offered any while I studied abroad.
When I returned, I continued my studies in Psychology and Neuroscience and finally, in December of 2009 I graduated from North Dakota State University with my Psychology degree. I had felt God calling to a different line of work even as a freshman in college and so I decided against graduate school right away.
During college, I chose to work at Green Lake Bible Camp as a summer counselor. Upon graduating I found myself working there again this time through summer and into winter staff. It was during these summers I began to find my call for youth ministry (again). Throughout my life, God has filled me with hope and peace. A hope and peace I wanted to share with youth so they may know this as well as God’s unconditional love.
I enjoy chatting and learning about God’s word and works over a very large cup of coffee. Coffee talks are some of my favorite times. Every day is an opportunity to grow within my faith. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13.
