Pastor Christian Muellerleile

Christian grew up in Owatonna, MN and graduated from Owatonna Senior High School in 1995. Later he attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion. At Gustavus Christian sang with the Chapel Choir, St. Ansgar’s Chorus, The Gustavus Choir, as well as other student directed groups. Following college in 1999 Christian joined the Lutheran Volunteer Corps and served as a volunteer for Alliance of the Streets--a membership organization for homeless people in South Minneapolis.

It was during his year of service in the LVC that Christian heard and successfully ignored the call to ministry. Christian then went to work for Mississippi Market, a cooperatively owned and operated grocery store in St. Paul, Minnesota, and then went to work on a small scale vegetable farm near Oceola, Wisconsin. It was during this time that Christian married his college sweetheart, Kateri Kormann. After his second season on the farm Christian entered into the candidacy process for Ordained Ministry in the ELCA and began his studies at Luther Seminary in 2002.
While in Seminary Christian had many formative experiences including a Clinical Pastoral Education unit at the University Good Samaritan Center in Minneapolis and a year of internship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Berwick, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Luther Seminary in 2006, and accepted a call to Christ Lutheran Parish in Irownwood, Michigan. While in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Kateri gave birth to Augustin Kormann Muellerleile. In 2009 Christian accepted a call to Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, Minnesota.  In 2010 Antonia Jane Kormann Muellerleile was born into their family.

Pastor Troy Pflibsen

Pastor Troy began life in a small town on the plains of north central Iowa.  When fourteen he moved with his family to the big city and mountains of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  During these years he returned each summer to Iowa to work at Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp, near Story City, Iowa.  Yes, he left Colorado in the summer to return to Iowa . . .  It worked out well though, because at Riverside he met his wife Carolyn, and he first heard the call to ministry.  He successfully ignored the call for several years and began his collegiate work in the engineering school at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  God eventually won out and he graduated with degrees in psychology and recreation.  Pastor Troy and Carolyn were married in 1987 and then moved to the lakes and woods of northern Minnesota where Pastor Troy served as a youth director and camp program.  Then it was off to the mighty Mississippi and Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.  That was not enough study so more graduate work on the shores of Lake Michigan at Marquette University.  Pastor Troy eventually received his Ph. D. in historical theology in 2006.  During this time Elizabeth and John were born and Pastor Troy and Carolyn together served three parishes in Iowa.  Pastor Troy is excited to be back among the lakes and trees of Minnesota and thankful for the partnership in ministry with the folks of Zion!

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
